There is a specific kind of October afternoon that has always been my favourite. Low light at four o’clock, air that’s cold enough for a jacket but not yet miserable, and somewhere nearby someone has a fire going. My kids have their costumes ready and are counting the days; they love Halloween as much as I do. I find I write better in October than in any other month. Something about the quality of the dark.
I mentioned in my last newsletter that I’d share news about the TTRPG books when I had something concrete. Well.
The Books Are Live
All four World of Kiynan 5.5E-compatible books are now available on DriveThruRPG.
The World of Kiynan is the 97-page sourcebook at the core of the line: seven regions, seven new cultures and species, the emotion-based House Magician class, the steampunk-inflected Engineer, and over 40 interior illustrations by Dean Spencer. If you want to play in this world, this is your starting point.
Preemptive Justice (levels 4-6) sends the party to Haven and Castle Malice following prophetic visions of murders not yet committed. Investigation-forward, rewards wits over brute force, playable in three to five sessions.
Return to Skywall (levels 6-8) is a relic hunt across five locations, from the Ornland shores to the Starkeeper’s Tears archipelago, chasing an artifact that can make castles fly. Pirates, sea monsters, a rival magician: the adventure earns its premise.
Clockwork Dawn (levels 8-10) completes the trilogy with an urban investigation in Spire, a desert survival stretch across the Silver Sands, and a canyon assault that ends aboard a stolen airship. I am particularly pleased with the docking-sequence finale.

A Note on Print
The World of Kiynan sourcebook will be available in print. I don’t have a release date yet, but the process is underway. The three adventure books will be digital-only.
It’s been a longer road than I anticipated from the Kickstarter-that-wasn’t to actual published books. I’m glad they’re here.
Writing Update
The Vicissitudes of Varice is officially in progress. The first draft is coming along, and I won’t say more than that for now because I’d rather not jinx it, but Edvard and the rest of them are back in motion after a long wait. It feels good to be back in that world.
